Musica Swing
Musicisti swing famosi sono i cantanti come Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams e Frank Sinatra, pianisti come Nat King Cole, trombettisti come Louis Armstrong e direttori d’orchestra come Glenn Miller.
Swing Music
Swing-style big bands were the dominant form of American popular music from 1935 to 1946, a period known as the “Swing Era”. The most common style was a soloist who took centre stage and improvised a solo on the melody within the arrangement framework of his bandmates playing support. It uses a strong, anchoring rhythm section to support a lead section with trumpets, woodwind including saxophones and clarinets, and sometimes string instruments such as violins and guitars and vocal sections. “Swing” referred to the style of jazz music, and the name swing came from the ‘swing feel’, where the emphasis is on the weaker pulse in the music. Notable swing musicians are vocal singers such as Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams and Frank Sinatra, pianists such as Nat King Cole, trumpet players like Louis Armstrong and band leaders like Glenn Miller. The musical piece performed by the Swing Swing Vocalist Band is Smile by Charlie Chaplin (Gran Galà di Capodanno 2017 – Teatro Odeon di Ponsacco)
Lyrics
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
For you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying.
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile-
If you just smile.
That’s the time you must keep on trying
smile, what’s the use of crying
you’ll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just smile
smile, though your heart is aching
smile, even though it’s breaking
when there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by
That’s the time you must keep on trying
smile, what’s the use of crying
you’ll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just (smile)
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just smile
SMILE
